Château Loudenne is a very old property in the Médoc that can look back on over 350 years of history. The pink château dates back to 1670. Château Loudenne became known nationally thanks to two Britons, Alfred and Walter Gilbey, who owned the estate from 1875. They exported the wine to England and from there all over the world, which contributed significantly to Loudenne's good reputation.

The winery has belonged to the cognac house CAMUS and the Chinese spirits group MOUTAI since 2013. Since then, a lot has been invested in wine quality and this is clearly noticeable in the wines from Château Loudenne. Today it is one of the best red wines in the AOC Médoc, and there is also a really enchanting white wine that is in no way inferior in quality to the red.

Château Loudenne is located north of Saint-Estèphe in the AOP Médoc. The vines are in close proximity to the Gironde. There is a saying in the Médoc: "There is no great terroir that does not face the river". The Gironde ensures a mild climate and protects against spring frost. In summer the river cools the vines.

Of the 62 hectares of vineyards, 48 are planted with red vines. Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot make up almost the same proportion of this, with Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot accounting for two percent each. There are fourteen hectares of white vines, 75% are Sauvignon Blanc and 25% Sémillon. The entire vineyard area of Chateau Loudenne is currently being converted to organic cultivation, and from the 2022 vintage the wine will be certified organic.

2016 is one of the great Bordeaux vintages of our time. The wines have great substance, power, extract and blancace at the highest level. The reviews for the Château Loudenne 2016 are correspondingly positive: it received 93/100 at the Decanter World Wine Awards, gold at the Concour General in Paris, 94/100 from The Wine Doctor, 92/100 from Falstaff magazine.

The Loudenne 2016 has reached its first drinking stage and will provide great pleasure for many years to come.
