The Penfolds classic Koonunga Hill Shiraz / Cabernet in decorative gift packaging. This Penfolds wine has been available since the 1976 vintage. For the European market, this wine is also available with a cork, like these bottles here. In Australia, it is only available with a screw cap.
This Koonunga Hill is, so to speak, the traditional Australian cuvée made from the country's most famous grape variety, Shiraz, which delivers a juicy fruity taste, and Cabernet Sauvignon, whose fine-grained tannins contribute to the special structure of this wine. Koonung4 Hill is not a single vineyard, by the way; the grapes for this wine come from particularly good vineyards in South Australia, which are then composed by the Penfolds oenologists to create this wonderful wine. Usually, around two thirds Shiraz and one third Cabernet are used. The maturation in barriques gives it a beautifully balanced wood note and delicate roasted aromas.
