The Quinta da Boavista takes its name (beautiful view) from its location on the hill above the Duero Valley near Pinhão. This excellent terroir and the vines, a quarter of which are over ninety years old, produce one of the most complex and long-lasting wines in Portugal.
The grape varieties are one quarter each of Touriga Nacional, Touriga Franca, Tinto Cão and the old vines mentioned. The grapes are harvested by hand, then the berries are selected again before they are used for the Boa-Vista Reserva. The 15-20 month aging takes place in 500 litre French oak barrels.
The Boa-Vista Reserva 2015 has reached its best drinking phase. It has a bright ruby red colour. The bouquet is reminiscent of ripe dark berries and Mediterranean herbs and is open and complex. On the palate it has a lot of substance, the tannins are just right, the structure of the wine is enjoyable and encourages you to pour more.
