The Quinta de Vargellas is owned by the Taylor port wine house and is the company's flagship wine. The excellent locations in the eastern part of the Douro Valley were already known for their exceptional quality 200 years ago.
In very good vintages that have a fruitier character than stylistically desired for the Taylor Vintage Port, the Vargellas Single Quinta Vintage Port is produced by Taylor. This is ready to drink earlier than the Taylor Vintage and is always an excellent choice in terms of price/quality.
The Quinta de Vergellas 2015 was rated an impressive 94/100 points by the Falstaff magazine in November 2018. Quote: "Dark ruby garnet, violet reflections, delicate lightening of the edges. Dark wild berry confit with a chocolate undertone, candied orange zest, tobacco spice, a hint of prunes. Pleasant nougat note, ripe plums, integrated tannins, harmonious, sweet heart cherries on the finish, lingers, will benefit from bottle aging."
