The Private Selection, or Seleccion Privada from Bodegas Dominio de Brezal is made from Tempranillo vines that are at least 70 years old. These vines only produce a minimal yield of around 20 hectoliters per hectare, but an extremely concentrated must that results in a fantastically concentrated and complex top-class Rioja.
This density allows the use of 100% barriques made of new French oak, in which the Seleccion Privada matures for a full 18 months to perfection. This top wine from the Rioja Alavesa has an intense red color with violet tones on the edge. On the nose, it is reminiscent of aromas of ripe blackberries, black olives, pepper and cloves, as well as noble roasted aromas from the barriques. It begins confidently and powerfully in the mouth, with intense fruit and impressive extract. The very long finish is balanced and has perfect tannins. It makes an impression of an unobtrusive style.
