At Taylor, the base wines for each wine style are selected according to their character. For the Fine Tawny, smooth wines with little tannin and low acidity are used, which are then stored for three years in oak barrels in Vila Nova de Gaia. When the wine is ready to drink, the right batches are selected to achieve a consistent taste over the years.
The Taylor’s Fine Tawny Port has a pale brick red color with an amber rim. Its aroma is reminiscent of ripe berries and figs, caramel and prunes, as well as nuts and Christmas spices. On the palate it is balanced, soft and with a beautiful fullness, in the long-lasting and perfectly balanced finish this Tawny Port is reminiscent of strawberry jam.
You can serve the Fine Tawny cool from the cellar as an aperitif, but it performs even better as a delicious dessert wine, cakes with almonds or chocolate go very well, and it also cuts an excellent figure with spicy blue cheese or nuts. Simply drinking a glass on its own, instead of a dessert, is of course always possible.
