Taylor not only produces exquisite Late Bottled Vintage Ports, they even invented this port wine category. This type of port is intended as an early-drinking alternative to vintage port. Like vintage, the wine comes from one year, but is left in the barrel for longer, usually between four and six years, so that it is ready to drink when bottled. Despite the longer barrel storage, the LBV is darker and fruitier than a Tawny Port.

Taylor's 2019 Late Bottled Vintage Port (LBV) is combined from particularly good batches of this vintage, which come from Taylor's own vineyards and from other top locations in the Cima Corgo and Douro Superior subzones.

Taylor's LBV has a dark ruby red color with a violet shimmer. Its expressive nose is reminiscent of ripe dark berries, cherries, cassis and coffee. Despite all its presence, this wine is also characterized by the typical elegance of Taylor Ports. The taste is captivating with the perfect balance between ripe fruit, extract and perfectly fitting tannins, and the intense black berry aromas of the fragrance can be found in the emphatic and long finish. Precision and elegance, as befits a Taylor's Port.

Jamessuckling.com awards 93/100 for this brilliant performance. The Late Bottled Vintage goes perfectly with blue cheese such as Stilton or Roquefort, and is just as delicious with sweet desserts/cakes with chocolate or berries.
